I was pretty happy with Firehouse. I was anxious to see what would go in the giant space that Aspara vacated. The decor is firehouse themed, (get it?), with a nice exposed rock element with great high ceilings.
We ordered their pretzel sticks which were delicious, incredibly soft and buttery.
I had the "cruncher" burger which had pickle, chips for topping and smoked gouda. I couldn't taste the cheese at all. I don't think it was "smoked" gouda. If it was, they may need to consider using more cheese because the smoke flavor is lost. The chips and pickle made for a good crunchy texture. The beef was cooked well and tasted good. They have really great buns for their burgers as well.
Pat had the BBQ Chicken Pizza which he enjoyed thoroughly. Their sauce is very nice, very smoky with a bit of bite to it. There was a generous helping of chicken and the crust appeared freshly made.
I would go back to Firehouse again if only for those pretzels alone.
