New food option in Covington! This again is near my workplace and we were wanting something new. We go to Keystone way too much as it is. For those that do not know Blinkers is in the old Chalk space and a lot of the Chalk fixtures will be recognizable. Their decor is focused on horse racing. In fact, the servers are clad in riding pants and boots with polo shirts. Very interesting. We were warmly greeted and shown to a table off of the bar. Our server was friendly and prompt with drinks and suggestions from the menu.
The menu had some great options, soups, salads, burgers and entrees. crab cakes, pasta, even mussels.
Wheat and french bread and butter - always a hit with me.

Glenda had the chicken tenders and before you make fun - they were delicious. The breading was vaguely crunchy but soft, the chicken was incredibly tender and juicy, very fresh. They were great. I kind of look askance when the most that someone can look forward to is a chicken tender, but in this case I guess it can be kind of a litmus test for a restaurant. My litmus test is salmon. More about that later.

I had the crab cake and it was very good. Crabby! It was bready but had lots of crab in it. It was much better than Behle Street Cafe (which is not good) and not quite as good as InCahoot's (my favorite). There was a small little salad to the side of the remoulade sauce which surprised me because it contained kale. You don't see kale just thrown around in many restaurants.

I ordered the special which was salmon in shrimp cream sauce, this came with a side and a salad. I chose the saffron risotto. The risotto was very good, not overly saffron flavored but good. The salad was very good, they have a house made tomato basil dressing which was delicious. The salad was a generous mix of iceberg, romaine lettuce, kale and arugula.
The salmon was perfectly cooked, a nice portion for $15 and the shrimp cream sauce was very tasty. I really do love salmon, especially a good salmon.

I was happy with Blinkers. I'm a little sad because I had fallen back in love with Chalk right before it closed but this is a worthy replacement. This is definitely going to be our party spot for work events instead of going to Behle Street Cafe.
Update 4/14/11
We went back for another lunch and had more of their selections. I had the chicken marsala. It was very good. Nice mix of mushrooms and the sauce was very good.
My co-workers split the fettuccine alfredo which appeared big enough to share. I had a nibble and it was very good.
