Five Guys Burgers and Fries (Erlanger)

Oh yes, I will be back....

2010-05-20 20.47.43_Covington_Kentucky_US.jpg

Here you have the Bacon Dog! WHAT!?!?!?! That's right. Just a simple beef hot dog with bacon. It was delish!

2010-05-20 20.49.56_Crestview Hills_Kentucky_US.jpg

Here you have the cheeseburger. I got it with pickle, mustard and mushrooms. It was fabulous. Sometimes you get mushrooms and they are either raw or all boogery. These were neither. The regular burger comes with 2 patties. If you aren't that hungry go for the "Little Burger" it has 1 patty.

The staff was really friendly and I got my food super quick!

Next time I am going to try their fries. I think the bacon dog and giant cheeseburger was enough for one day.

Auntie Anne's Pretzels (Kenwood Towne Center)

2010-05-09 17.40.27_Cincinnati_Ohio_US.jpg

I know... I know. Seriously reviewing the Pretzel Place? YES!
Ever since I discovered the pretzel dog, my life has not been the same. Hot dog all wrapped up in pretzel dough? Yes! I always have the lemonade with whatever I get and it is the highlight of my shopping experience. Go Pretzels!

Nicholson's

We were trying to go to Nada. On a Friday night. I know, stupid. Anyhow since Nada had a 1.5 hour wait we decided to go to Nicholson's which is just a stone's throw away. We were greeted by a doorman in a kilt. How adorable. We were seated promptly. At first glance the place is very impressive. It's cavernous and intimate at the same time.

2010-05-14 20.45.32.jpg

Here's a not so great pic of their menu..while perusing the menu I had a Goose Island Matilda beer. SO tasty!

2010-05-14 21.03.28.jpg

We decided on the spring rolls.($8.95). A little steep but they were good. I would advise you to get them if you like mustard. There is a lot of it going on here! Chicken, cabbage and cheese in a fried wonton. Pretty good!

2010-05-14 21.16.53_Cincinnati_Ohio_US.jpg

My friend got the Prime Rib melt ($13.95) with the cole slaw. She said the prime rib was really great. Moist and tender and the coleslaw was really tasty.

2010-05-14 21.17.02_Cincinnati_Ohio_US.jpg

I got the Scot Brown ($11.95). Nicholson's take on the local favorite Kentucky Hot Brown. If you're not sure that's toast points, turkey, bacon, bechemel sauce, cheddar cheese and tomato. This baby gets put in a broiler until bubbly. Not exactly health food! It was very good. It would be perfect for a winter's night.

2010-05-14 21.46.06_Cincinnati_Ohio_US.jpg

This is how the spoons came to us for our dessert. How lovely!

2010-05-14 21.49.15_Cincinnati_Ohio_US.jpg
We also ordered the sticky toffee pudding. That's not just regular old Cool Whip there. That's Drambuie Cream! MMM! This one is deceptively large. It I guess could be eaten alone, but I think it's better off shared.

I had always wanted to try Nicholson's and I was not disappointed. It was very good. I felt at home here. Beer lovers will really enjoy this place!

Buca Di Beppo

Who doesn't like Buca Di Beppo? In the heart of Rookwood Commons it's a cheap and delicious place to eat. This place was made for parties so bring lots of people.

We always split the fettuccine alfredo because we cannot agree on anything else.
($19.99) for the large size.
2010-05-10 21.07.16_Cincinnati_Ohio_US.jpg

We also get the garlic bread with cheese. It' used to be better but this one is good. You used to get a large round loaf that had slivers of garlic under the cheese. This one is still pretty great.

2010-05-10 21.07.39_Cincinnati_Ohio_US.jpg

Pat always insists on an a la carte meatball. ($5.99) It's not bad. It's the size of a softball if you're wondering in the photo.

I like Buca because its consistent and it's tasty. I have had different things there but the fettuccine alfredo is really the best. My favorite item Macaroni Rosa isn't on the menu anymore.

If you have a huge party and are in the area go to Buca. They're pretty nice and the food is great!

Cheesecake Factory

Well wasn't I surprised! I know what people say about chain restaurants. And I was already skeptical about this one because my sister likes it. She thinks that Domino's is the greatest pizza in the world. Enough said? Anyways we went on a whim and even though the decor is a little weird. I think I said it looked like an old casino and the place is huge, we had a great time. Their menu is huge. Almost too big. It's really hard to decide what to get when you are given a book.

Anyhow we decided on the fried macaroni and cheese ($8.99)and it was pretty tasty. Not sure I'd get it again due to the price.

2010-05-16 21.51.32.jpg

I got the Sonoma Burger ($9.99) arrugula, red onion, roasted tomatoes and goat cheese. It was pretty tasty. But then again if you put goat cheese on my hand, I'd still take a bite.

2010-05-16 22.08.35_Cincinnati_Ohio_US.jpg

Pat got the chicken and biscuits sans mushrooms. He said it was really delicious and better than he expected.

2010-05-16 22.08.25_Cincinnati_Ohio_US.jpg

We also got a slice of cherry cheesecake. Pretty tasty. All in all I'd say it's earned its reputation. I think it's impossible that everything is made fresh since the menu is so big but you can't tell in the taste of your dish so who cares?

This place is made for huge parties so next time you're looking for somewhere for 2 or more give it a shot.

McAlister's Deli (Kenwood)

I think the first time I had McAlister's Deli was at a Taste of Cincinnati. I only get one thing there and it's always yummy. The muffuletta is a delicious sandwich.

It can be a huge sandwich at $12.99. It's the size of a dinner plate. I get the quarter. Ham and cheese with an olive salad mixture all warm from the oven. Whenever I need my Nawlins sandwich fix I go here. Maybe someday I'll try something else.

El Coyote

When I was in high school I thought that this was really good Mexican food. God how wrong I was. Eating here as adult I realize that it's really lackluster. They proudly boast Velveeta as an ingredient. That should be a shameful kitchen SECRET! Not a proud ingredient PRINTED ON YOUR MENU! Their food is greasy and not flavorful.

If in Anderson Township and looking for good Mexican food, travel to Eastgate and eat at Rincon Mexicano.
