Riverfront Pizza

In the heart of skeezy ol' Covington is a pizza parlor steeped in tradition. No really. This is the pizza parlor of my husband's childhood. I know it as the pizza place that I go to near work that ISN'T LaRosa's. I really detest LaRosa's pizza.... just a taste issue. I like Riverfront! Unfortunately I didn't have any pizza today...

Here you have an order of breaded mushrooms. Super cheap and super hot. Burn your mouth hot. Surprisingly they are made with fresh mushrooms. Frozen mushrooms are all watery and gross. When you bite into these they are mushroom colored, not gray. They could use a spicy dipping sauce or something to go with them...

Garlic Bread with Cheese below. Bready, magical, cheesy goodness. . .

All-American steak hoagie with mushroom sauce, pickles, onion and banana peppers. They brush the top of the bun with some buttery goodness and garlic salt. Salty, mushroom goodness.

Below is a salad so large barely able to be captured by the cameras of the modern age. This is a large salad in this giant box. This box is stuffed to the top! Villages could eat on this salad for a whole winter. Anyways, my mom missed these salads from when she worked in my office, so I brought her one. Hurt my back carrying it.

Don't bank on going her on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday and getting in and out quickly. This place is SUPER busy!

  1. Nice - I've driven by Riverfront a million times, but never been inside. ...did the "gourmet pizzas" look any good?

  2. I've had the taco pizza and the ranch pizza. Both are pretty good. The thing about this place is that they will give you a LOT of toppings (see the salad). Sometimes that can alter the structural integrity of the pizza crust. But good nonetheless. I avoid the goetta pizza they serve. Even as a fan of goetta, I have limits.

Their hoagies are where it's at for me! My favorite is the ham.
